Rosanne Andreas explains on her web site that she originally got the idea for her Bead & String Reference Chart while she taught classes. For the beginning beader, there is a lot to learn up front: needle sizes, bead sizes, number of beads per inch, types of threads to use, the cost per bead. These are just a few items that Rosanne gathered together and arranged on the laminated bead chart that she now sells along with a tips booklet. This handy poster (11" x 17") can be hung over a work area to help the beader quickly located needed information.
Even if seed beads aren’t your first choice of beads, there are a number of other features for the larger bead person. At the top of the chart, Rosanne includes the graphics which illustrate the size (provided in millimeters) of round beads or cabochons. There is also a similar illustration for oval cabs. Also provided is a formula and chart showing how many beads are needed to make a 16, 18, or 24 inch necklace.
Though there is a lot of helpful information for the advanced beader as well, I think this poster is extremely helpful for those just starting out. I brought this poster to a local bead meeting and the "newbies" were especially interested.
